Pros

Good salary and per diem for hardship places, ability to manage your own work and efficient finance and HR systems and processes

Cons

Fieldwork can be very difficult as you may be let to your own devices at times. Working in war zones means you have to watch what you say and report to HQ because you are literally are on your own. The danger, instability, and insecurity make it difficult to implement quality projects. Promotion is not automatic even if you are a hard worker. Politics determines if you move up, not your work ethic/quality work.

Pros

Pros for position at HQ NY - Salary is pretty good for a nonprofit and benefits are amazing! - Flexible schedule will depend on your workload, office and manager. - Lots of professional development opportunities - There are a lot of employment opportunities for internal staff and flexibility to move around and participate in short assignments

Cons

Cons for position at HQ NY - Some staff treat their employees are not very nice or fair - Though there are plenty of employment opportunities and short term assignments, it can get highly competitive - Too many consultants are getting hired who have minimal knowledge about IRC's work
