Great work, stressful environment

Pros

Work is overall rewarding. Passionate and dedicated colleagues. Excellent benefits. Pay is better than other resettlement agencies in the area.

Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement. No work-life balance. Incredibly stressful work environment. It feels like you're putting out fires half the time with pressure to take on additional responsibilities the longer your stay.

Pros

Gaining lots of experience in management, managing databases, volunteers, hiring interns and volunteers, creating curriculum, teaching some classes, and making important decisions that impact the program. Able to flex time.

Cons

Low pay for a lot of work. Not easy to move up the ladder. It is a good place to gain experience but if you want to move up, you will need to work elsewhere after a few years at IRC.
