You meet and connect with people from different backgrounds. You get the opportunity to interact with refugees from all over the world. It's a thrilling and exciting experience, to learn about their culture and way of life. There is this satisfcaiton that comes with knowing that you put a smile on someone's face.

Cons

Pay is really low. The workload is very intense; very repetivie. Limited opportunities for growth. You just need to be passionate to stay there long enough.

Committed, dedicated people compared to other resettlement organizations. Upper manager is available, but your experience depends a lot on your immediate supervisor. Made a lot of friends with dedicated people who are talented and want to help people

Cons

Low starting pay ($17), benefits okay for new graduates but insufficient for those with families. Some people may experience conflict with coworkers. Can be gossipy or distracting depending on who is currently working on your team. Entry level workers on average stay about 2 years.

It can be fulfilling work.

Cons

Complete lack of pay transparency. Difficult to build a long term career working with clients because you are not one of the privileged working at headquarters making $80,000 or more doing far less emotionally stressful work. People at other field offices may be paid much more than you and there is no reason why. HR is unsympathetic and basically tells us to be grateful we have jobs. Managers blame HR and say their hands are tied, but we all know managers can apply for exceptions and go the bat for you but most never will.
