Pros

Decent work/life balance - while a lot of politics, good opportunities to do interesting work. Your boss has a decent amount of control in the work, and they will support you to the death!

Cons

Have to do a lot of crud for a little fun stuff. Lots of politics in play. Forced to use contract Indian engineers of whom you have no control, can't get/give feedback, and may not do the work you assign them (not the only company where I've seen this problem, btw). Two levels up there is no understanding or respect for software engineering, until you're gone! The method of evaluating your value is to toss all managers in a room with a paltry 3% raise for them to fight for their engineers. My boss would rate me a 5 (highest) where the wiring harness guy would try to force a 2 on me so he could get more for his employees. There's got to be a better way!

Pros

They want you to move around and learn the whole business and keep you from getting bored with your job. This will help getting you promoted in many areas. Beautiful building to work in. Offices are in the middle. Everyone has a great view of the outside. Cheap premiums for the health benefits.

Cons

Great work concepts, but they don't implement them. Deadlines are more like reminders when to start. Poor communication between departments.

Pros

The only reason to work at International is if you are an engineer with diesel engine experience and you MUST live near Chicago. The only other place to work is Case New Holland? International knows this, they know that their employees are "stuck" because if they want to quit and get a new job, they MUST relocate. Actually, the only other reason to work there is that they pay their non-managers overtime. So if you do not have a life, you can make up for the poor salary with the overtime pay. Just do not count on it as they have "frozen" overtime in the past when budgets get tight.

Cons

International does not pay very well. They hire engineers from the bottom of the barrel. They are currently understaffed. Waaaay understaffed. Engineers are quitting this company left and right. If you interview with this company, be sure to ask how many engineers in the specific department have quit in the last year.
