Pros

Perfect location in western suburbs right off of route 88. Great people to work with. Beautiful campus to spend your working days at. Voluntary separation packages offered.

Cons

Frequent restructuring has created a climate of uncertainty throughout the company. The reputation of Navistar truck products has taken a hit in recent years due to risky decision making at the top levels.

Pros

Not many. Once a great place to work, but became a place where uncertainty rules the day.

Cons

As layoffs abounded, do did bonuses to senior management. In 2009 over 300 employed were laid off, after which the President of parts operations took a $450,000 bonus in stock options. Then in 2012 when it all fell apart, after laying off 1,000 people, the CEO got $$$$MILLIONS to go away. They have been laying off ever since, and the bonuses? Just saying.

Pros

I was respected by my peers and bosses. I got along with everyone fine in my 5 years at Navistar.

Cons

The company's executives lack vision. They want to make money but have no real plan on this. All we did was cut costs, cut costs, cut costs. No one is buying Navistar/International product. That is why the company will fail in the long term. Costs of products are too high and we have a horrible reputation in the trucking industry. Middle management is horrible at Navistar. They run around without purpose, cutting programs and groups, and redeploying this resources to only start up the same programs with new people a few months later. So much experience and knowledge is lost through this mismanagement of resources. Navistar is only focused on one thing, cutting costs. There is no quality or customer first attitude, cost is the only thing that matters right now and no one can figure out how to make more money, so to help our bottom line all we can do is cut costs.
