Attempting to improve the company but not necessarily in the right way

Pros

Good people and at the present time the company is still trying to not take away some perks. Although because the company is struggling, I foresee some of these going away (pension, 401K match, etc.)

Cons

Company does not promote people regularly. Management positions available are limited. Those that are promoted are not based on ability to lead and manage people. People get promoted based on politics, not performance.

Pros

Paycheck, Health Insurance, and a cafeteria that listens to its customers.

Cons

You have no career future. You hire in at a management role or you will never get one. The reason is the company makes it very clear to everyone if you have not been here for 10+ years or your whole life your not allowed into any roles. Management roles are strictly entitled and not earned. The boys from the sandlot enforce these rules and use lesser seniority employees as sacrifices to keep their job. In layoffs good employees got let go in place of poor performers simply because they disagreed with the good old boy management. So if you choose to work at Navistar forget about performance just come to work say yes boss, smile, tell your boss they are great and you will be alright. Don't put to much effort in at Navistar, because its not appreciated. Also, be very very very careful about showing how much smarter you from other industry experience. The typically under educated childish management will see that as a threat to their job and then off with your head. Here is how you play the game here. Take concepts from the slavery days in the USA. Do as your told, say yes master, but never show your true intelligence. Just laugh at the leaders who are fighting the world from changing, and keep looking for a job else where.
