Losing their way...

Pros

Benefits (everything except pay) are great, and co-workers are amazing. Insurance is great, and their offerings for maternity/paternity leave are good and disability is good. You can tell they value their benefits offerings and care about providing those to their employees..... for now....

Cons

Pay is considerably below average, and leadership is aware and okay with that. Company really has gone downhill as of late. It's an upper leadership issue. When new leadership came in and saw some changes needed to be made, instead of reaching deep into the company's values and reviewing what made this company great in the first place, they started plucking long time employees from their positions with little respect. The re-organizations they've been doing are done with little tact and poor communication, and they're promoting unqualified people and letting devoted employees go. If you are looking to join Interstate - I advise you reconsider. This is not a good time to join. Know that their purpose and values are becoming a joke...

Run!

Pros

Once was a great place to work because of the culture. Not anymore. They do some fun things but it's headed down hill very fast

Cons

Run...run as fast as you can. This ship is sinking an nobody knows what's happening. Leaders are all on completely different pages and there is no direction. Priorities are changing every two seconds and there is zero vision. They are using all of thee new tools that a consulting company suggested so everyone spends more time trying to use tools than they do actually working on a project. Pay is an absolute joke. I warned you, run!

Pros

Paycheck every two weeks, if that is all that matters to an employee. Distributor side of the business appears to be solid. Employer pays a good portion of the medical, etc.

Cons

Retail side of the business is in disarray and clueless. According to some of their franchisees, there are problems with POS, marketing, advertising, pricing and vendors (quality of products). Bunch of unhappy campers. Division (All Battery Centers) is poorly directed. They will tell you that your opinions matter, but actually think that the opinions of those in management positions are really the only ones that matter. Some franchisees have complained because of "one off" deals with preferred franchisees, the fact that those in control of All Battery Centers have made so many mistakes in the past that they are dinosaur in nature about making decisions and that All Battery Centers, as well as Interstate Batteries as a whole has a problem of keeping knowledgeable people in the right positions before moving them to another division or position, necessitating the need to start from the beginning again. Batteries Plus Bulbs is eating All Battery Centers' lunch! They have five times the number of stores in Dallas/Ft. Worth which is Interstate Batteries home headquarters. That's a shame and a slap in the face. Batteries Plus opens on the average of one new store per week while All Battery Centers may do five or six new locations a year. That's if they can persuade one of their franchisees to open an additional store. You would think that with the name recognition and one of the most recognizable logos in the world, All Battery Centers would have people lining up to be franchisees. They don't!! That should tell you something. The vast majority of those potential franchisee candidates that due their due diligence, never sign up.
