Pros

Absolutely None. My team project manager was a decent guy with his hands tied. Hopefully he has moved on.

Cons

Massive staff turnover speaks for itself. Poor management due to poor leadership. Poor training program. I was given three days with a trainer. Absolutely zero support. Unnecessarily abusive and competitive environment. I couldn't find another job fast enough.

Pros

Nice office, pay not bad, free parking.

Cons

I worked for this company for about a year. I regret it for accepting their offer. If you hate micro management, do not ever accept a position there. I wasNOT an account manager but a salesman. My job was to keep pushing for sales. Managers were not supportive. Basically, I was on my own. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, I had to be in a sales forecast in order to predict how much I will sell in addition to what I sold. Their goal was to keep increasing our quota on a weekly basis. I was so stressed out by the amount of pressures I had to deal with from the boss. I wore basically all hats from doing cold calling job to go out there meeting clients. I was using a system that was outdated, so poor in quality, very slow and not efficient. When I had trouble with the system, they had no tech support within to help, I had to call to India tech support team which was unknowledgeable with the tools. Typically 4 to 6 hours to try to fix something whereas I had other priorities which I could not meet because of bad computer system. I did not know how many account managers had used the same laptop over and over. Intertek had a high turnover employee rate. Engineers there hate their job and they were somewhat selfish. Because of the managers' sales tactics, customers are pushed away to the competition. Their price to certify a product is so expensive, you will never be able to compete with CSA and TUV. An account manager relies heavily on operation in the US to perform testing and help with quotes that makes the price even higher in USD fund. So think about it. It is impossible to convince customers to buy your services because of prices that are too high. So it was somewhat difficult for me to meet the quota. Even when I was able to meet my quota, they increased it at next sales' call. Are you looking for an account manager job? Do not apply at this company because you will be disappointed. If you do accept any position there, the most you will last is 6 months if you are lucky.

Pros

Really enjoyed the working relationship with a lot of my peers.

Cons

I would not think of recommending this company to anyone. All Intertek seems to care about is the current months revenue. The company is too cheap for their own good. I witnessed new lab employees getting 4+ year old laptops. Some of the stuff was so old, people could not even do their job effectively. I was once denied a $20 USB thumb drive because my manager at the time wanted some other group to pay for it. The IT infrastructure in many US locations is obsolete and goes down more often then it should: Few managers want to spend money on hardware or the people to support it. Nothing but fire drills to get systems back up and running with the business screaming at you because they could not do their job. In the Information Technology Department, there is no room for advancement. There is not even an allocated budget for IT training. Pay is not great. Raises are minimal. One year, they even screwed me out of most of my bonus. In many cases when Intertek acquired another company, IT management refused to insist that the acquisition integrate into the central IT support model. This not only resulted in shadow IT groups within the business that basically did what they wanted to, but it ended up costing Intertek a fortune in the long run which no one seemed to care about as there was no immediate expense for the integration. During my tenure, upper IT management didn't seem to have a clue on how the "real world" worked. They often just hired people they favored from jobs they had held at other companies ... and they didn't even try to cover up the fact that this was happening. I applied for one internal job and during my interview was told that the job was already filled by someone who they presumably just found by canvasing the internet. The stress is enormous and they just throw you away when they are done with you. Please don't work here unless you are truly desperate for the money!
