Some great product teams...lots of politics

Pros

A chance to work on products that have actual impact on real people's lives Some really clever engineers to work with. Very good benefits

Cons

A company driven by business and marketing. Leads to near term thinking (next few quarters) and limited understanding of what it takes to really build excellent products. This has worked out well for many years, but deferred maintenance (on both current products and investing in future vision) may finally be catching up to the business. Poor product and technical vision, but endless (and increasing) politics and wearying "rah-rah" marketing-speak. Salaries are just okay and very poor stock incentive. Much work moving off shore...expect that to continue.

Getting Green Card is very difficult through Intuit

Pros

Good pay, Good benefits, Good culture

Cons

Getting permanent residency/Green card in EB2 is so difficult through Intuit. They file it in EB3 even though you have Masters + 5 yrs experience. They are not practical. They don't understand the means, reason and effort in getting a Masters degree from the US. They will lose good engineers to other companies if they don't start sponsoring employees in EB-2 category, because all the other companies are already doing everything they can to retain good engineers.

Pros

Good hourly pay; good working environment; good company culture

Cons

They keep cutting the number of QAs, sacrificing quality of the product for the bottom line. Doesn't seem to be a lot of loyalty to their longtime employees. No flexibility or consistency for things like telecommuting. They used to hire TAPs from the QA talent pool, and encouraged us to get the programming classes. I did, and was completely stonewalled. Right now, with all the layoffs, I guess I'm supposed to just be glad I have a job at all.
