Great People and Culture, but Significant Room for Improvement

Pros

The people at the company are great, and I loved the culture. There is a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork.

Cons

The company is experiencing growing pains as it tries to prioritize certain asset classes and reorganize different areas of the firm. This has led to a loss of top talent to competitors. To become a market leader, the company needs to invest in critical areas. There has been over-hiring in some areas, while essential departments like product, marketing, compliance, and operational support remain understaffed. Management quality varies by team. My experience was marred by favoritism, lack of growth opportunities, and pay well below the market average. There is a lack of accountability for managers who lack direction and knowledge, often pushing their work onto junior employees without supporting their growth. Promotions are often based on mediocrity. Senior leaders lack conviction in their long-term plan, leading to delays and shifting goals.

Pros

Strong company culture, collaborative environment, friendly and supportive people, well-structured internship programs, and meaningful involvement in the community.

Cons

Some areas within Invesco face challenges, such as a lack of knowledgeable and leaders in certain roles and noticeable favoritism within departments. The payroll department, in particular, lacks clear structure, and there have been instances of hiring based on personal relationships rather than qualifications. Additionally, the payroll department has had the same management for a few years, yet still operates without proper documentation or standardized procedures, which continues to hinder efficiency and consistency.
