Culture of mismanagement and favoritism

Pros

Great co-workers, flexible schedule, good benefits and PTO.

Cons

Possibly the worst managed company I've ever worked for. Between lack of communication, corporate actions that betray the message being portrayed, and overall strong levels of favortism, moving up will be a struggle if you don't "play the game." They have more "managers" with little to no experience and still wet behind the ears than any company I've worked for in the past, and strive to keep up appearances of a successful operation rather than actually being one. They talk of values like family, integrity, and a "positive culture environment," but as a corporate employee, you're just a number. Their true rock stars are their associate's; if you're not one of them, you're replaceable. Many times I've seen management throw good money after bad without investigating the problem to begin with, and place their trust in inexperienced people that make rash decisions with no account for practical solutions, causing us to hemorrhage money while simultaneously either ignoring the problem or actually making it worse. As far as career growth, who you know is far more important than what you know, with my time here being filled with many people promoted to management positions that were clearly under qualified and inexperienced. Merit based promotions don't really exist, managers will promote bad workers that they like before people that are actually qualified for the possible promotion, as well as hiring their friends into supervisory roles that they are not qualified for. They constantly choose the easiest solution over the right one, and politics play a huge role in your growth and career development. I wouldn't advise anyone to work here unless they're willing to suck up to get ahead and tell upper management what they want to hear. But if you're friends with the boss, chances are you'll get promoted even if you're not qualified for the job. But the culture, or "cult", will try to convince you that everything is great. But from my experience, working here is far from it. This company lacks vision, and it's reliance on a structure of network marketing is apparent due to it's lack of respect for it's corporate employees while praising it's Associate's. Classic example of a company more interested in looking successful than actually being it.

Pros

people care about your path and want you to evolve over time. This has become the best, and longest, job I have had and worth the move from Southern California.

Cons

sometimes work life balance can be tough - but thats a personal thing.
