Pros

- Flexibility in being an exempt employee - Health insurance covers quite a bit - HSA/FSA/Dependent Care FSA - Some people are actively working at making changes - Tuition payment towards college courses (up to $5250 per year, will report it as income on w-2) - Professional development budget can pay for your certifications - Employee discounts at IFC cafe (10%) - 8 hours paid volunteer hours - Vacation time, sick time are in two different banks - can take 2 days consecutively sick without doctor's note - two remote days per week - Can volunteer to work community events, commencement - Can use fleet or rental vehicles for work related travel - open parking on campus

Cons

- High turnover - Pay is below average for being the largest community college in the state (besides Systems office positions) They have the classifications with minimal requirements to keep the pay low - Accrued vacation time is not paid out if you are termed - Dis organization from top to bottom - Systems office does not put out briefs with updates on expectations but expects compliance - Huge disconnect between Systems office and the entire college - No clear cut SOPs so performance is subjective Personnel Policies and Procedures

Pros

Teaching students Engagement with students

Cons

Indianapolis Systems office has poor organizational skills and it takes years to get policies updated (except 8 wk classes.) Unequal pay for professors with the same jobs and years of experience. Pay discrepancies across the state. Few pay raises or bonuses. Lack of support when harassment cases occur. Overall lack of support for full time instructors against unruly students and disgruntled adjuncts. Having to watch students with learning disabilities suffer in fast-paced eight week courses is disheartening. High deductible health insurance. Multiple quality professors have left and keep on leaving. Students aren’t supplied books in the majority of courses, it’s ebooks which is hard for tactile learners. Instructors are overloaded thanks to eight weeks and hiring backlogs since the pandemic. Systems office was supposed to evaluate new loads for instructors…that was years ago. Lack of communication from some deans and VCAAs until the last minute. It used to be a great place to work but has declined in the last decade.
