Pros

Many really smart people. Cool technology to work on that is in many ways are way ahead of other colleges and their IT vision. Great culture. Benefits are outstanding. Mostly a flexible work environment. Sometimes fun activities.

Cons

There are a few and they are not insignificant. The building that statewide IT is in is terrible. Its location is near Ft. Ben and that is cool. But the building has terrible HVAC. During fall and spring it will often get to 80 degrees with windows open. If you have allergies this can make the spring terrible. At any time of the year a 15 degree swing during the day happens from time to time. The building is old and dirty. Many people claim it makes them sneeze and cough. The last thing is the laptop situation. It is normal for a high level position to be filled (6 figure salary) and they are given a 6 year old laptop that has a battery life of 30 minutes and is beat up. If you are interviewing here get in writing that you will get a new laptop and have the details listed. Often even new windows laptops are in the $600 quality range. And take care of it as you will have it 5 years minimum.
