Chance to do important work for the state Financial Aid changes have driven out the game players and most students really do want to learn Most colleagues are reasonably intelligent and interesting to work with/for Generous retirement package and sick/personal days (when you can actually get away from classes)
Cons
Enrollment is going down and the heydays are over More demands on faculty to get students to stay in classes and pass is turning the college into a for-profit model No raises in three years Lengthy portfolio process for a small raise and advancement with no tenure
