Toxic Leadership

Pros

*The kids are so great to be around *Good stepping stone after College

Cons

*The leadership in the MLN department is very cliquey. They are a group of late 20s mean girls that seem to not have an identity outside of the workplace. *If a supervisor doesn’t like you they will take away opportunities and responsibilities from you which can affect your chances of getting a promotion *They gossip about other employees and get trigger happy with write-ups, and getting employees in trouble. * The admin will snitch and gossip if there is an issue instead of having a professional discussion with you directly. *They gossip about students and their parents *Supervisors swear and use very casual language with their employees but expect you to stay professional with them. *The pay is AWFUL. Unless your an admin you pretty much can’t afford to live on your own.

Pros

-Kids are amazing and so much fun to work with -Knowledge of ABA -Get to work in a special education environment/school in general -Lots of trainings -Lots of different experiences to put on resume (actively working with children with many learning needs or other disabilities, data management, case management)

Cons

-Extremely understaffed, and employees are made to feel guilty for taking time off, even with their available PTO -Horrible pay -Beware of younger-age classrooms, as bathroom trips/assistance are a huge part of your day -ABA is a field that needs more work and while admin are acknowledging that, some behavior plans in place are somewhat questionable
