Pros

I have worked at many JCP stores across the country and every store made me feel welcome. It was almost a family environment. There are many long term associates that empower that family atmosphere. The pay scale for management associates was very good.

Cons

The district manager of the last store I worked at always looked outside the company for filling positions. There were many qualified management associates that excelled at their current job who should have been interviewed and considered for the open position. The company's current stance on "You must be relocatable to be considered for promotion".

Pros

Discount Manager made sure we got our breaks Other employees were nice Didn't have to put out new inventory, they had separate staff for this. Leave ON TIME!

Cons

The pay sucked. Advancement in the company was rare. I knew someone that worked there for 15 years and still was just a sales associate.

Pros

Like that it's 1st shift, weekends off during non-peak seasons, okay discount, good friends and co workers, varied tasks so I wasn't too bored, and fairly flexible during non-peak seasons.

Cons

The pay, not knowing how long you're going to work or how late you have to stay to finish your work, the holiday season, incompetent managers/supervisors, lack of communication or lack of action between employees. I don't understand why the company continues to do some of the things they do. Also, products are marked up to an extreme. JCP gets brand new products with a price tag of say 100 bucks, and they are immediately marked down, 50 percent off, to 50 bucks. That's how they drive sales.
