Pros

- Talented workforce - better than most places I've worked. You get to work with smart people and collaborate on interesting projects - Great brand image and great company to have on CV. Products look amazing - JLR really invest in training. Voted employer of the year for a reason - growth makes this an exciting place to work. A campus buzz on large sites like Gaydon and Whitley

Cons

- very hierarchical. Difficult to get things done, always having to go through seniority chain to achieve even the basics. No trust. - process heavy, yet the thousands of processes are not centrally stored or easily located. You have to ask people what they 'think' and may get lucky in finding the process owner one day - clunky processes mean company is slow to react and innovate. It feels like a dinosaur at times - Buyers spend incredible amounts of time (60%+) doing admin and account management activities, in place of commercial responsibilities - Very much tactical and reactive. Role is more suited to admin staff. Going back to point one above, this is because seniors want to make all the decisions then expect buyers to execute their plan even if it's a bad business deal. You get to do all the fun paperwork and chasing! - classic silo mentality. Departments often work against each other - rapid expansion has meant people spread very thinly. Difficult to do a quality job. Overtime expected but you will not be paid extra! - Leadership only concerned with price. Quality takes a back seat. -Parking facilities at Gaydon are horrific. There is often nowhere to park, you end up parking on a verge and get business protection writing up a parking infringement and reporting your car to your line manager. Not fit for a multibillio pound company! - pay is low compared to peers

Pros

Great brands, ok salary, stabl-ish future.

Cons

Pushed to worked beyond the paid 40 hour week or risk being performance managed. Blocked from applying for other positions within the business by local management. Allow an additional hour a day to get in and out of the car parks every day. Always working under intense pressure to the point of destruction for some staff. Considered a bad member of staff if you try to stick to your paid hours.

Pros

- Pay is very good - Occasionally you get to drive the products - The grad scheme is varied and gives graduates the opportunity to experience many areas of the business

Cons

- ENDEMIC AGEISM DIRECTED TOWARDS GRADUATES!!! - Arrogant, self-centred, useless managers - Senior management and executives are even worse, only caring about their own careers and salary - THE CARS HAVE SO MANY ISSUES!!! BUT MANAGEMENT MAKES SOLVING THE ISSUES IMPOSSIBLE!!! - Too many members of staff are stuck in the "good old days" and are totally unwilling to move with the 21st century - Anyone new is given zero respect, and graduates often receive the worst jobs in particular - If you don't fit the JLR mould, there is ZERO career progression. Do not listen to anything anyone says, career progression is reserved to those who pander to managers and only care about their own careers. If you don't behave the way you are told you should (by being political and often robotic) then you won't get anywhere - The sites are bleak, depressing, miserable, vast hell-holes - DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING IS TERRIBLE, TRAFFIC IS HORRENDOUS!!! (a 7 mile journey from Leamington Spa to Gaydon has taken up to 1 hour at times!!!) - PARKING IS TERRIBLE (unless you have been at the company long enough to receive a coveted on-site pass) - Generally I can think of very few positives and too many negatives, I hated pretty much every second of my time there and I want to stop people falling into the same trap as me, joining with tonnes of enthusiasm and hope, for it to be ripped from you by people you will despise for the rest of your lives. PS. During my time there I had two major nervous breakdowns, entirely work related.
