Pros

Fraternal type of enviornment with a emphasis on hard work. At times, long hours and not much emphasis on facetime.

Cons

Could use some more structure but as the cmopany has a start-up type of feel, this is expected. Management is working rapidly to put in the necessary structure.

A lot of enthusiastic people - and a lot of them quite young. They are building things for the future and so there is quite some activity.

Cons

But then you realize that the old boy network and mentality is still present. In this day and age is mistifying that this can still take place. I mean look how inefficient you can be and how many mistakes will be made by hiring people who have no knowledge of the business you are trying to build. Just because they are your buddies ? For gods sake there is one PM who was a HR person before now responsible your next trading platform... really ?

Pros

The company is growing like a bat out of hell (i.e., 2008) -- though it actually avoided that carnage. Jefferies is growing in the U.S. and is now expanding aggressively into Europe and Asia. While some managers are merely competent, the better ones are sound, practical and run the company.

Cons

Things are happening almost too fast which ample opportunity for poor execution and operational error....so hold on tight.
