Pros

If you're looking to get licensed at a company with strong ethics, high regard for the client while functioning as a team environment, John L. Scott is a great choice! Aside from the lack of appreciation and recognition shown to employees, the team atmosphere really makes it an enjoyable brokerage to work for. Especially since it's such a successful office!

Cons

The only thing I'd say is as an employee, it does feel like a place all about the brokers. Events that are put on, including recognition, are solely for the brokers. There are no employee appreciation events, options to really grow in your role, or even move up in salary.

Pros

I had the pleasure of working out of the corporate office and met some amazing and talented individuals. All the executives were so easy to work with and everyone I met in HR, Marketing, Accounting, IT, and Operations were wonderful and made me feel so welcomed to be part of the JLS family!

Cons

I am not a fan of being asked to come in to the office prior to the start date to complete the new hire paperwork, unpaid especially when the I-9 regulation gives the new hires to satisfy this requirement 3 days after the start date. It's unnecessary and inconvenient. It doesn't make sense to be acknowledging the handbook, filling out payroll forms and benefit enrollment forms when you have not even officially started with the company. As big of a company as John L. Scott, they do not provide an employee self service link for their employees to change their personal information, W-4, view pay stubs, internal job postings, etc. Again, very inconvenient for the employees since they have to go through HR for everything. I personally have never been with a company that chooses not to provide this service. The position was not challenging enough with the experience and the level they were looking for in this department since all I did was administrative type of work. Luckily, I kept myself busy with personal projects to help with the implementations but there were so many days where I didn't get a single email or a call. It was hard to be motivated or looking forward to coming into work everyday when I felt I wasn't needed. It was a stressful working environment due to receiving tasks very last minute, and not getting the full information I needed to get the job done. Two of my pre-planned vacations were denied and had to be rescheduled.

Pros

Was fair pay. Great technology and training opportunities for agents. However the franchise where I was employed used only a small portion of the technology, and offered virtually no training for staff... figure it out on your own, and be reprimanded if you don't. Awesome leader in Lennox Scott.

Cons

Unfair, unethical, gossipy, playing favorites, down right ugly behavior that is excused and even supported by management and broker. Franchises need some serious work.
