Pros

Competitive Salary Depending on the team might have work -life balance Some smart and nice folks here to forge a friendship with. The other people are either passive aggressive or too stressed out.

Cons

Where to start? Large company...Half the time the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing( but there will be meetings to try to bring together). Lack of true innovation or rushing to bring products to market and then see them fail because the company is so conservative ( cheap) in really putting $ behind launches. TERRIBLE cost cutting culture. I thought so much more of JNJ. This company is so cheap that I got tired of asking for my own BASIC supplies and just bought them myself. Meetings, Meetings, Meetings. See point above - There will be meetings about ideal, meetings about reality, meetings about plans, meetings about career progression. Nothing comes out of these meetings. JNJ loves to talk to themselves, create paperwork, unnecessary work ( TPS reports), no action. When things start to fail due to lack of action or funding, there will be more meetings about what went wrong...yet nothing happens anyway, just more meetings clogging everyone's calendar. Extremely political company, advancement depends really on who you know, not what you know. Advancement is not encouraged as managers love to pigeon hold talent as long as they can. Work gets stale, people get frustrated unless they find opportunities to get known by the higher ups and work your way around a heavy political system that rewards the talkers ( see point above on meetings) , not the doers or the action enablers. You have to be a certain type to progress inside JNJ. Diversity, individuality hardly encouraged at this company

Pros

- Great place to start your career - You learn a lot from your peers and management - Company is old and diverse; creates many opportunities for improvement - Lots of change is always happening. You can be a leader in change - They have been giving away free PTO days due to the current work environment - Great benefits compared to peers, but compensation is lower

Cons

- You are inundated with requests and you have systems that are so outdated, it takes hours, countless emails, and meetings to get tasks done - FLDP has lost a lot of it's value over the years to peers. You can see this through both the talent pool + management of the program. As a former FLDP, you sense how outdated and poor things are managed. - Culture is a bit toxic and dare I say 'fake'. We preach a lot of 'credo', but it is perfectly normal and acceptable for folks to work 8-8 or 7-7. Creates the expectation and isn't healthy for workers. Wish they practiced what they preached. - FLDP is not anywhere near its former caliber, has obvious mismanagement, and you are underpaid + grind hard. Some friends worked investment banking like hours. This is unacceptable. - All employees are generally overstretched

A Company in Transition

Pros

Legacy of Excellence - Having been with the company for many years, I can attest to its once vibrant and inspiring culture. It was a place where employees felt valued and where the mission to positively impact humanity was more than just the Credo on the wall. Strong Compensation and Benefits - While the culture has shifted, the company still offers competitive pay.

Cons

Cultural Decline - The divestiture of the consumer division marked a turning point, leading to a shift away from core values. What was once a mission-driven organization is now singularly focused on financial outcomes, often at the expense of employee morale and purpose. Identity Crisis - The company is struggling to redefine itself post-divestiture. This lack of a clear direction has resulted in conflicting priorities and a sense of instability across teams. Eroding Trust - Transparency and open communication, once hallmarks of the culture, have diminished. Employees are now left in the dark about decisions that significantly impact their roles and futures. Loss of Vision - The cultural decline has alienated employees who were drawn to J&J for its Credo, which now seems to be just decorations on the wall.
