Life as new hire

Pros

Jornaya has a great on-boarding program. Our CEO spends time with each new hire reviewing the company history and culture. Our VP, People holds walk & talks to get to know everyone personally. I never worked for a company who's top exec's cared so much. My on-boarding was well planned to help me acclimate and feel comfortable. Every 2-weeks for the 1st 60-days they checked in with me to make sure everything was going well and if I had all the resources if need. Changing jobs is never easy and Jornaya has made it a great and easy experience. They also have Lunch n Learns every Friday to keep the whole company informed.

Cons

None-except you have to be careful not to eat too much with the awesome food at Lunch n Learns and snacks offered.

-truly unique solutions; you are developing business applications that no one else can deliver. -the team is high intelligent and skilled and fun to work with.

Cons

-a lot to do without the resources to get it done; it results in people being spread thin.

Great, dynamic company

Pros

This is a company of all-stars. They don't hire just anyone, because they care about the composition of the team. As a result, you're surrounded by people who care about the quality of the game they bring every day. There's free catered lunches (every Friday), subsidized transportation, and the BEST/cheapest health care I've ever had. WFH days are not a hassle, and there's unlimited vacation. (Seriously). Equipment: They believe in buying what's needed and will improve productivity. Macbook Pros or Airs and dual monitors for EVERYONE. (Not just engineers.) They really care about their employees and it shows.

Cons

This is a 50+ person company and going through some growing pains. Improving communication should be a focus, and management knows it (and is working on it). The biggest issue right now is that there's more work than there is people - a good problem to have, and happily, the management is NOT unrealistic in what they believe one person can do. Finally, Ambler isn't the most convenient location for all employees. Management is aware and looking into what they can do to alleviate the pain with commuting.
