Supportive, positive staff in a challenging, fast paced environment.
Pros
Jumpstart was a supportive and engaging job where I had easy access to communicate with management and positive, friendly coworkers. The counselors and clinicians worked hard with the patients to be successful in their weight loss goals. The program offers effective weight loss strategies, but losing weight isn't easy. I was given the training and information to be effective in my role and kept learning throughout my employment. Outside of work I took classes, volunteered and had a social life and Jumpstart was very accommodating with my schedule. Getting days off was always easy, except around the holidays when everyone wants time off. You do have to work some Saturdays but that is so other employees aren't stuck working them every week. I find this pretty reasonable. Any meetings are made known well in advance and help build the team. My work-life balance was never an issue. The company compensates its employees well and offers great benefits such as health and dental insurance and 401ks. I was frequently recognized by managers for my hard work which made me feel confident in my work. Jumpstart offers the opportunity to build your knowledge base and communication skills that you don't find elsewhere. I worked in both of the San Francisco offices which were beautiful spaces and in great locations. I left Jumpstart to return to school (which they were in full support of), but I would have loved to remain an employee.
Cons
When I was working at Jumpstart, it was a growing company. This meant some growing pains including a busy patient schedule. It is challenging, so if you're looking for a job to sit back and relax this isn't it. But you truly see more success with patients than not, and that's what keeps you coming in each morning.
