Pros

Firstly, it is all about the values here which is why I came to JustGiving in the first place. The company really does practice what it preaches, there are always fundraising activities going on which helps to develop the general JustGiving culture. Also, the heart of the company really lies in the right place, with every company decision (small or large) taking into account what will best benefit charities and our fundraisers. Everyone that works here is so friendly and always happy to help. This is what makes the flat-structure work! In many hierarchical companies my role would be considered quite low down in the chain, but at JustGiving I feel just as valued as any other member of staff. This makes for a very exciting work environment. More practically, the benefits are fantastic and we have the best office I have ever seen! It feels the company has expanded in a big way, even in the year I have been here. This is no doubt a great time to work at JustGiving and be part of amazing changes to the company, and the third sector in general.

Cons

The flat-structure might be difficult for some. You really have to take things on for yourself, and take responsibility for your own development within the company.

Pros

There are lots of reasons why I love working at JustGiving. It's a company that really lives it's values - the people here truly care about growing the world of giving and making a difference to great causes all around the world. There is a great culture and atmosphere around the office. It's full of super smart, passionate people, so it's a great learning environment. Plus, people genuinely get on, so there's a great, social atmosphere. People work hard, not only to achieve company goals, but also out of a genuine respect for the people who work here. I've worked here for a number of years, and the last 12 months have been the most exciting.

Cons

It's a flat-structure, and that might not suit everybody. You really need to bring things to the table, as opposed to being just told/directed by someone senior.

Pros

Some pros of working at JustGiving (tech department): - Self-managed culture, very light management touch. - Smart people who will not waste your time, while understanding that we're all learning together. - You can use whatever technology you like, as long as you can convince your peers of its value. - Meritocratic - code wins over opinions. - A progressive stance towards new technology options and software delivery practices. - Great benefits, helpful expense procedure. Overall, a very satisfying place to be a software developer if you love your craft, rather than the politics.

Cons

This is a self-managed environment: you have to take responsibility to understand your role in the context of the business and make some magic happen. This does not suit some people who prefer to not to figure things out and rather just take instruction, who will then criticise this environment as 'lacking in management'. JustGiving suits entrepreneurial people.
