      suck up or forgot promotion

      Pros

      Many extremely talented and competent staff... at working levels. Engineers, apps.

      Cons

      Some VP/SVP/EVPs are clearly incompetent, don't know their own market dynamics, demand situations. Some have major character flaws. They got to their rank bc they just suck up and some EVP love that. Below Director-Sr. Director, you are asked for perfection -- above-beyond performance, be liked by everyone, be known by everyone BUT no such criteria is applied once you pass those ranks. You'll find ppl with major character flaws and significant incompetency at all of VP levels. Under some EVPs, you should just forget promotion bc they are so scared of not meeting PFO targets that they are crazy stingy to give any raise.

      suck up to move up if you want good compensation

      many exceptional talents at director and below levels... Execs are very nice on the surface and often thanks ppl below them.. ok..

      Cons

      Some ppl in VP levels aren't really competent but got promoted bc they suck up to the management. nothing else. Below VP level, you are asked for perfection on your performance - 100% peer reviews, high performance, etc. Yet, at exec levels, many ppl with significant flaws/shortcomings. Some VPs don't understand key market dynamics or technology of their products. they just go with the wind. "HFC" is a joke. Various comp for non-VP are crap. No chance for biz class flights, health compensation gets cut every ~2yrs for "improved package" per HR. Of course, base + bonus is below peers. IT is way understaffed to fix your computers on time. They love to spend energy to cut every corner for higher profits.

      Leader in the industry, reasonable WLB, friendly colleagues, flexible schedule.

      Cons

      Mediocre middle managements, mediocre pay scale, software is old and isn't adapting to new technology very well.
