Pros

Great work environment. Management takes effort in being fair when it comes to compensation among employees. You get to work on a large variety of project types. Great place to learn the ins and outs.

Cons

What you get to do and where you go within the company depends in large part on who you get to work with. This means that people's experience in the office can vary greatly from one person to another. It's very inconsistent in that regard and this can make things political in the long run.

Pros

Good experience. There are lots of different types of jobs to work on from mixed use, tenant improvements, commercial, and residential projects. The company is very bottom heavy so the majority of the employees are very young (just out of college) and the minority are older senior level employees. Because of the bottom heavy layout, young engineers get to do basically everything on a job from attending meetings, to putting together construction documents, and putting together proposals. There are a lot of nice people at the company and overall is is a good place to learn and grow.

Cons

Average to below average salaries and benefits. Management tries to give engineers a 3.5% raise every year or no raise at all. It doesn't matter how hard you work at KPFF, you won't be rewarded for it. Engineers who stay here for more then a couple years end up losing money since they give their employees such little raises. The company doesn't do anything to distinguish itself from other companies. Their is no future here for engineers unless you want to stay and be underpaid. To be fair to management, they don't appear to be paid extremely well either. Senior management and senior employees live modestly. So I think it is more of a company wide issue where everyone at the company is underpaid. Engineers that work for the city and local municipalities appear to be paid better and on top of it they get a pension. At KPFF, there isn't much of a retirement plan. They offer a 401K but they don't match.
