Excellent, challenging work/learning opportunities; mediocre pay for effort/hours
Pros
Challenging work; Very progressive in its pursuit of a workplace that is reflective of the country's demographics; PTO (4 weeks combined PTO, two "Shut Down" Weeks during the year where you do not need to use PTO); excellent on-the-job learning; CPA bonus/cost reimbursement ($5,000 if you pass in one year of hire, $3,000 if within two years); CPA study material incentive; During COVID-19 KPMG has become much more flexible in terms of working hours (may depend on your engagement team/client needs); Health, dental, & eye benefits (multiple health packages); Pension (and $7,000 pension credit after 3 years of service); 401k match (5% of 50% of contribution); Paid PARENT leave (mother, father, adoptive parent); 4-12 week sabbatical program (20% pay - 30% during the height of pandemic); Browser-based audit software with great functionality; Excellent volunteer opportunities with charge codes for time spent volunteering; An opportunity to work for a prestigious Big4 accounting firm; Nearly time-based promotions with a nearly-guaranteed raise over industry-standard each year; Encore/Bravo incentive awards; Global and national mobility (KPMG operates worldwide); State-of-the-art training facility in Orlando (the Lakehouse) with private chefs, rooms, gym; Variable Compensation opportunities even as a first-year associate; Opportunity to learn and prepare audit documentation very early in your career; Heavy client-interaction (may depend on the client/engagement team); India-based service center that can work on deliverables while you sleep - the KPMG Audit practice strongly encourages its professionals to utilize this service.
Cons
Low pay based on hours/effort performed (your friends in other practices will be making $5-10K more and in the industry will be making $10-20k more per year when you start out); Everything is seemingly urgent/prioritization issues; It feels like you are drinking from a firehose when you start; Work-life balance can be non-existent at times during the year; Busy season hours can be awful (depends on your client/efficiency of your engagement team); Client mobility is rather stagnant; Corporate bureaucracy.
