Pros

The people at KPMG outside of upper management are great. You are working with smart and nice/personable individuals that are very accommodating. They are also dedicated to their job, though you have to be to work the hours they require. You'll learn quickly through sheer constant exposure with long hours. Id argue KPMG is better than most other big 4 companies as you'll work 60 hours a week as an associate instead of 80. They send you out to a private resort in Florida that they own for training and it's very nice (but your family can't come, so you'll probably want to leave after the second day). They are very accommodating of any personal matters that arise, such as doctors appointment, etc. They offer 4 weeks PTO (but they'll deny you if you actually try to use it all, and at 9/30 it expires so they don't pay you. Just expect to use aprox. 3 weeks of it) They pay you back for the cost of CPA exams (after you take it, and only if you stay 1 year after) They treat you to lunches pretty often.

Cons

Lots of unpaid overtime. You are required to work a bare minimum of 55 hours from mid July to mid October, and that's just a minimum, you'll go over that. Do the math on how much you make per hour and you'll realize the salary they offer is significantly less than anything outside of big 4. They'll give you a schedule with scheduled hours, and then simply throw it out the window and make you work until you drop during the busy season. Keep in mind "busy season" in their eyes is mid July to mid October and the beginning of March to end of April. They'll only bump you in pay once a year, but they'll give larger offers to new hires to fight inflation, so new hires are making more than you until raise/promotion time. While there is opportunity for advancement, you are going to work more and more hours the longer you stay and higher you go. For that reason alone, most people don't want to go past senior. While lower management is very nice and accommodating, upper management is very aggressive and does not seem to care for employees wellbeing at all. Also, the company is moving away from working from home.
