Pros

Flexibility, administration is approachable. Meaningful work. Holidays and weekends off.

Cons

Can have long hours, supervisors can be less reliable and approachable than upper management such as VP's. Not enough incentives to stay offered in a field where turn over is high. Cliques are definitely a thing and if you are not the type to join one or just don't fit into one, you will find yourself the black sheep. It is almost like high school where no one will talk to you, you can't sit with them, and you feel like when you walk out of the area, they're talking about you. Lack of job specific training.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It sounds like you work within our KVC Kansas team doing child welfare work. We totally agree with a focus on retention over hiring, although of course we do have to hire to fill open positions so workloads are manageable! Our desire for employee support and retention is why we've partnered with Gallup and conduct a Q12 survey among all employees twice a year. We want to create a positive, supportive workplace and that takes everyone's involvement. You raised some really important topics and we will continue to work on these. We hope you will voice your opinions and ideas in your local State of the Team conversation!

Thank you for sharing your perspective on being a case manager in Kansas child welfare. We would be curious if you were in your role before or after Oct. 2019, because the environment has changed for the better with the start of the new state child welfare grants that began then. That is because these contracts or grants are more adequately funded and structured to provide several more critical support positions, which is in line with your suggestions. Either way, please know your feedback is very valuable to us, and we wish you the best going forward.
