Pros
Like everyone else here says: safe, good benefits, lots of PTO, casual environment, comfortable "feel-good" atmosphere. The company's overall mission is ethical, and it acts in compliance with local and federal regulations, taking measures to correct lack of compliance.
Cons
No career advancement path--there doesn't seem to be a clear way to get into management, and not much upward mobility once you get there. Most personnel are technophobes who are unwilling or unable to enact the business solutions that will make processes more efficient. Taking on extra work to compensate for others' slack is implicitly encouraged, viewed as a sort of "employee heroism" instead of a sign that there is a malfunctioning department. We like to joke that this company is a dinosaur, by which we mean big, old, and slow. It hurts to be spending the prime of my youthful working years in a place that will not let me take real control of the company, but hey, at least I'll never get fired no matter how bad of a job I do. Think about that the next time you go into one of our hospitals for treatment; I always do.
