Pros

- Good Benefits - Genuine Co-Workers - Good Work Environment

Cons

- Lack of growth, it’s like climbing a step ladder and looking up at a glass ceiling. - Getting told how great you are doing but nothing to show for it. - No true raises or bonuses. - Work piles up and management sometimes loses sight of their employees mental & physical health. - The feeling of being lied to about the max salary of position during interview, barely making over minimum with a graduate degree and years of experience. - No prep for future, the feeling of complacency.

Pros

We have great benefits and a pension. Someone starting out in life can get a wealth of experience and knowledge just from working for the city. There have been opportunities for promotion.

Cons

The pay is just okay. We have not really gotten any raises for several year now. The cost of health coverage gobbles up the small 2 or 3 percent raise you may get on an annual basis. Cost of living raises never happen working for the city.
