Pros

They had really good medical and dental benefits, and they were not that expensive (in 2008-2010). Also the pay wasn't too bad. I felt like I did have a lot of autonomy both in my classroom and as an admissions rep, which was nice. As long as I did my job, no one really questioned me as to how it was happening

Cons

You have to lie to the people you are trying to get to sign up for school, and its hard to work in a place where no one is getting their money's worth. The jobs that most of these people are paying almost 20K to train for (or even more!) may start out at minimum wage when they get out of school. Also, as an admissions rep, I was sometimes forced to work overtime, even up to some 12 hour days!

Pros

The job allowed me to master my knowledge in the subjects I taught. It gave me a wonderful opportunity to gain leadership skills with individuals who were older and came from different demographics.

Cons

Terrible training. I was thrown into my first class, without ever receiving personal training. I received my teachers manual and 8 hours of online videos, on how to behave in the classroom. Not once was I contacted about how to begin my first class or provided any mentor to direct any questions I had once beginning the class. Never met my manager and went through three managers in the span of 4 months while working for Kaplan.

Pros

Working with staff, and students was nice. It was a start up school so the salary was higher than normal.

Cons

It was a start up school so they did not have the resources available for the staff, faculty, or students. They hired the Director of Education to be the Campus President and he did not know what he was doing.
