Pros

I started working at Kaplan in 2018. I had previous experience in admissions when I worked at ITT Tech. I did well there and had no reason to think I wouldn't do well at Kaplan as well. In March of 2020, my daily commute to the Indianapolis campus was halted due to the pandemic as management ordered us all to start working from home. We surpassed all of our goals during lockdown and it was announced later that year that we would never have to go back into the office. I always wanted to live abroad so I asked my boss if I could leave the US to move to the Dominican Republic. She told me to email HR to find out if I could and what I needed to do to make it happen. They told me to make sure I had a US address for tax purposes and a US bank account for my direct deposit. In July of 2023, my husband and I sold our home and moved to this beautiful island. He left his job in car sales and the associate pastor position at our church. Since moving here, he started working for the top real estate firm here on the north coast and we started a church working with the Dominican and Haitian communities. My job here at Kaplan gave us the resources to stay afloat while he was learning how to do and be successful at real estate. I love my bosses and my job here at Kaplan. If they had not allowed me to take this step, I would not be living the life I am currently living. No more cold winters AND I live 2 blocks from the beach! Kaplan is an amazing place to work!

Cons

I wish I could be making more money. Due to DOE restrictions I am not able to be making the amount of money commensurate to my consistent production contributions.

Pros

Some of the people left after all the layoffs are smart and great to work with, but I don't know why we're so dumb enough to still be here.

Cons

Is there a character limit to this? 1. The company keeps laying off people year after year. 2. Most US positions are replaced by someone overseas whenever someone leaves. No opportunities in the US really. 3. They care about the bottom line and absolutely not the customer, making changes to products that are detrimental to the student. 4. They are so behind tech-wise, but rest assured AI will save the day and will eventually replace all of us worker bees. 5. They want to "grow" but they don't invest in anything. 6. They don't pay market rates. Medical benefits keep getting worse year over year.

Pros

Remote work, flexibility, tuition assistance

Cons

-The company claims to care about its employees and promotes a positive work culture; however, when it comes to compensation and room for advancement, actions show otherwise. In my almost 4 years at the company, I only received one small pay raise. The company went through a merger in 2020, and I pretty much had to beg to be promoted/compensated despite being expected to take on a larger and larger workload and more responsibilities. When people left the department/team, they did not fill those roles, and the rest of us were expected to pick up those duties without being fairly compensated. The company is pinching pennies due to not meeting revenue goals which has led to many layoffs. They won't bring employees together for in-person events and claim it's because of COVID, but really they do not want to spend the money. Management doesn't really care about the people at the bottom. -Difficult to advance, no bonuses or raises, lack of job security, favoritism, lots of outside hiring to temporary contract workers rather than promoting internally.
