      Pros

      The employees of Kaplan are generally positive, well-meaning, well-educated people. The company as a whole is large and is growing through acquisition. Kaplan isn't likely to disappear anytime soon. For remote employees, schedules and work structure are flexible.

      Cons

      This stagnant industry leads to little opportunity for growth. Layoffs and restructuring happen frequently. Wages are well below market rate. Marketing campaigns are poorly strategized and executed.

      Pros

      Flexible schedule, ability to prep for classes at home, being paid over $16/hour for your time, I felt my manager valued my skills and was great at helping me develop. You can pick up more hours if you're willing to tutor, and that's pretty easy work.

      Cons

      Hard to get a ton of hours. Frustration with teaching materials, such as when you totally disagree with the explanation they want you to use, which can sometimes be sales-y or just nonsensical. It's intense to stand up in front of a whole class of adults who've paid so much for your time... especially if you're an introvert. Takes quite a bit of time to prep a new test, and they won't pay you for all the time you WANT to spend prepping. So, you just have to start teaching feeling under-prepared and hope for the best, knowing you will improve after multiple classes.
