Pros

There are definitely growth opportunities but it's not clear how one can move up. I believe successful employees are recognized and rewarded.

Cons

There is always an air of losing accredidation. I am not sure when the rumor will come to fruition but it seems like I'm always watching my back. My boss said there would be chances to grow but I work with someone who has been in the same position for 5 years.

Pros

The pay was better than some of the other online schools that I have worked at and there was less micro-managing.

Cons

Academic advisors are seen as glorified customer service reps and therefore, it's hard to get into other departments because your skills aren't really valued. Also, keep in mind that every time there is an opening somewhere, the majority of the department is applying for it because everyone wants to get out of advising.

Pros

Fast-paced environment, some Midwest offices are comfortable, modern, bright Some dynamic co-workers in Orlando, Fort Lauderdale Advancement potential and opportunity to change offices Strong, lucrative parent company (in April 2010) Company offers full benefits in compensation package. Lots of training - especially for IT people - in some locations like New York City Steady paycheck!!

Cons

High turnover throughout company Inept top management that sends a mixed message. Reactive middle management that communicates poorly with direct reports. Company lacks team concept 40+ hours means 70+ and drained workers. Very poor company for anyone in admissions or marketing/advertising/editorial. Admissions people face unrealistic quotes, others cut corners, compromise, are held back by Kaplan name Poor company for anyone who takes education seriously. Negative atmosphere chips away at self-confidence
