Pros

Karmak is very friendly and family focused as one would hope to find in the midwest. With HQ in Carlinville, IL and a satellite office in Springfield, MO they offer two convenient but very different work locations. My location is the smaller of the two in Springfield, such houses approximately 25 Karmakians currently. Office culture is friendly and casual, no drama. Training position specific pros, the company paid travel is great and easy to maintain a proper work life balance around. Management is very sensitive to life events and will schedule travel around them. They are quick to provide the necessary tools to succeed.

Cons

Pay across the board is at the lower end of the scale I would expect for tech industry roles, but with limited experience required is great for every level and advancing in the company. Working from home is generally frowned upon and remote options are very limited.

Pros

Karmak culture is probably it's greatest asset. Everyone makes you feel welcome, and it really feels more like a family than just a job. They are very flexible with time off when needed, and rallying around team members in their times of need. The Vice President of Client Services in particular is always looking for ways to improve life for his employees, and goes out of his way to interact with everyone, and never leaves anyone feeling beneath him. The same can be said of the founder, Richard Schien, who knows everyone by name.

Cons

The only real con is it seems there has been a big push recently to only hire at the corporate office in Carlinville for certain departments. Karmak has offices in Springfield Missouri and Spanish Fort Alabama as well, and I feel those markets are underutilized, especially Springfield as it has a huge market for hiring as it is a much larger city.

Fun coworkers, great benefits and lots of travel opportunities!

Cons

Since travel is heavy, you must be prepared for that!
