Pros

New CEO and new VP of Development bring a ton of value and experience to the Karmak development team. Having deep experience in cloud and web architecture is very refreshing to be able to brainstorm with executive level team members on new technology opportunities. Our .NET Dev Managers are very easy to get along with and have been with Karmak for over 20 years each. They are very open to assisting with day to day developer needs and discussions about the code base. Our DBA Team is now top notch and very easy to work with. They will help you learn how to write better SQL and adopt best practices to help you grow utilizing the newest standards. Family values stay strong at Karmak - many of the team members value your work you do at Karmak and you are not treated as a number. The Team concept is growing stronger vs. developers working in silos. This is helping productivity across all areas of the company. Pay - is very competitive to other larger metro areas in Springfield and St. Louis. When you add in the low cost of living if you choose to live in Carlinville, it is very attractive and on or over par. Relaxed work environment. Jeans are fine every day unless you are working with customers typically. Benefits are very good for health, life and dental. 401K is very good compared to other companies in St. Louis and Springfield offering 25% match up to 8% of you salary. Many companies only will match up to 10% of your salary at 3-4%.

Cons

It is hard to find hard working employees these days that do not expect items to be handed to them on a silver platter. That isn't a negative for Karmak, but does reflect on some of the past reviews here that could be related to this observation.

Pros

With an ever-changing technology industry, Karmak goes above and beyond to adapt and move the company forward. Knowledgeable leadership team that has their employee base and customer’s best interest at heart, making the necessary adjustments for business success.

Cons

The location of the headquarters is in a rural community which is very nice but I admit is not for everyone. Keep in mind as you read the other reviews that change is a part of life, it is how we grow and are not left behind as a business. No one is perfect but Karmak leadership does a fantastic job recognizing that and moving the company where they need to be. Some take offense when they refuse to grow with the company and are left behind.

Pros

Karmak has very employee centric culture. Employees are encouraged to contribute their ideas and empowered to carry them out. the current Executive staff is encouraging and engaging with their employees. There is a good balance between work and personal time at Karmak.

Cons

I really can't think of a downside to working at Karmak, it's not perfect but no company is and the company is always trying to better any negatives that are brought up to management.
