Pros
Small department, very intense but interesting. In my few years was able to learn a lot with help of great and very personable immediate management.
Cons
Some department heads are really good to the employees and others are not so, it depends who your VP is. Unfortunately my immediate managers had no say in employees pay raise or promotion, because Department VP didn't care about employees at all and didn't allow promotions. There was no path to get promoted or get a raise in salary, even though company grew more than double just in a few years. It if unfortunate, but I am using all that I have learned elsewhere.
