Hostile Work Environment - Avoid At All Costs

Pros

There are talented and hardworking colleagues who genuinely try to create a positive work environment despite the leadership challenges. Some departments have built camaraderie as a way to cope with the difficult circumstances.

Cons

The CEO's management style creates a hostile and demoralizing workplace. Here are some major issues: 1. Intimidation Around PTO: The CEO intimidates employees into not taking their earned PTO, and even when time off is requested, employees are often required to stay on call regardless of their circumstances. Any time off taken is typically thrown back in the employees face at a later time. This lack of respect for personal time is exhausting and unsustainable. 2. Public Berating: Employees are frequently berated in front of others, with no regard for dignity or professionalism. The lack of respect toward employees is not only discouraging but also humiliating. 3. Constant Shifting of Blame: The CEO often blames employees for issues caused by poor leadership and mismanagement, and the blame frequently shifts from one team to another. This creates confusion, making it difficult to keep track of what the real issues are or to even believe the most current issue being presented. 4. Hostile Behavior and Inappropriate Comments: The CEO labels himself as an "alpha male" and makes inappropriate comments about female employees' appearances. This creates a culture of discomfort, especially for women. 5. HR as a Tool for CEO: Although the HR team is made up of good people, they are pressured into acting as enforcers for the CEO's directives, even when the practices are unethical. Their ability to help employees is limited, as advocating for staff often puts their own job security at risk. 6. Aggressive Legal Tactics: The CEO prides himself on being confrontational and is quick to file frivolous lawsuits (even against industry reporters). These legal threats are intended to intimidate and silence anyone who might criticize the company or expose its wrongdoings. 7. Unrealistic Growth Obsession and Chaotic Planning: The CEO's fixation on turning the company into a market leader leads to one elaborate, high-stakes plan after another. Each plan fails, only to be immediately replaced by a new one, creating constant chaos. This cycle distracts employees from realizing that they're essentially on a hamster wheel, putting in effort without meaningful progress.

Keeper takes these allegations very seriously. A hostile work environment, or any type of harassment, is not tolerated. We continue to support business success and record growth through attracting and developing top talent and implementing continuous improvements. Our diverse workforce continues to rise to the challenge, with equitable and frequent promotional opportunities. People managers receive regular training and coaching on leadership best practices to continually boost their leadership competency. Employees are supported in using their PTO in a balanced way and we have strong utilization of time off.

Pros

The money. That’s it. It comes at a price though.

Cons

Micromanaged. No support. Work never stops. Miracles are expected on a product that is generally only used in IT Departments
