Pros

Somewhat typical of many P&C insurance companies: relaxed corporate environment, low stress, regular career growth track. Nothing outstanding about any of these though.

Cons

Poor financial performance. It seems that many Property & Casualty Insurers are having a hard time right now and Kemper is certainly no exception. Currently laying off roughly half of their Kemper Direct staff.

Pros

Things changed way too often.

Cons

Too many changes we went through. Couldn't get our feet on the ground and stay focused on anything.

Pros

pay and benefits not bad for the area. office location is in a nice part of town.

Cons

The customers rip you apart 50-60 times a day. call after call non stop make you feel like you are worthless and management doesnt care. management makes horrible decisions that costs the company money and innocent lower level workers get laid off. Comapny recently announced that we will be ceasing operations but gave nobody any timeframe of how much longer they will be expected to be there so that we can plan moving on with our lives. You literally have 50 different people who think they can tell you what to do and they are all essentially bosses. Customer service, sales, underwriting supervisors, the qa department, managers, directors, and trainers all tell people what they are doing wrong on a daily basis and you try to stand up for yourself you get disciplined. Most of these people never worked as a customer service agent having to take call after call and deal with the customers who are of the lowest level of society so they should not be telling you how to do your job. they marketed the product to deadbeat people who dont pay their bills, always get in accidents, never sign forms that they are told that they need to. You are basically expected to babysit them. Impossible to get time off when you want it. You have to send 3 or four requests to a department called work force management. Literally All they do is deny or approve time off and they get paid about twice as much as customer service agents with no stress. You send requests for time off time after time and never get a response until you complain to management or its a day before you want the time so its impossible to plan anything. , they promote people to other departments then give them an ultimatum saying you need to go back to customer service if you want to keep working here (because of our terrible management decisions). Also you have to work about 6 days a week on average when you consider all of the mandatory overtime you are required to work and you have to work it when they tell you, not when it works for you. also, there are many people with these non sense job titles and you have no idea what they get paid to do even after being with the company after years and years.
