Pros

Marriott benefits, they promote from within, ability to innovate, get creative, suggest ideas. growing company and lots of opportunity to grow your career. There is a great atmosphere of fun but get it done at the same time. Lots of opportunity to gain feedback through performance review process, and 90 day reviews given. weekly meetings with dept heads allows more feedback and pulse checks to happen. annual increases issued. bonus for many salary positions. "job coach" program is very good and shows investment in a new hire during their first week. Kessler invests in its grand performers and there is also a "kessler cares program" which helps its ownemployees when needed and also the local community. When there are poor performers, they are willing to push them out if it is best for the whole. their employee engagement survey results as a company (done yearly), put them at the top of the hospitality industry.

Cons

every company has negatives and to think that there aren't any when interviewing is naive. Take the negative feedback on this site for what it is...mainly from ex-employees. Your ideas are heard, but don't be hurt if corporate or your managers don't agree with your opinion. That isn't always going to be the case. Corporate does have the family run feel but they do a great job as they are very skilled and knowledgeable about what they do. as they have grown they are also expanding their corporate office with hospitality professionals. this is good!

Pros

Beautiful hotels with potential.

Cons

Lack of accountability Lack of experienced leadership Art based hotels. Owners are focused on purchasing art and property than maintaining the buildings. High turnover rate. I was the fifth person in my management position in 1.5 years. The companies promote "friends" and "family to VP positions. These people are not exactly experts, they are just given jobs that are learned along the way. For some reason management believes that the same policies and staffing levels work for all the different hotels. 401k at the hotel in Savannah is matched only if the entire company is profitable. This will never happen because 2-3 hotels are supported by the revenues of the profitable hotels.

Horrible Management & HR

Pros

There are not really any pros to working for this company unless you consider being worked to death and underpaid, yelled and sworn at are positives.

Cons

Never enough staff because they all realize how horrible it is and leave. HR has way too much power and is a damage to the organization rather than a help. They inspire with fear and intimidation and they do not have any respect for work life balance. They want you to give up your life and then they throw you out on the street after they have had enough of you.
