Pros

The employees were good people. Many were even exceptional. PTO allowances were generous. The Brooklyn Ops Center was a nice facility.

Cons

Fear and lies seemed to pervade the culture. Production expectations were unreal. To set goals so high that they can rarely be achieved seems to me an invitation for employees to cheat, steal and lie. It was hard to enjoy PTO when you knew you'd come back to work with a huge backlog to cover and your current unwieldy portfolio would need attention, too. Management was not very helpful. Other department managers asked me what the head of my department did all day long and I had no answer - he was just collecting a nice paycheck and looking forward to his retirement, Pretty quickly I began to regard all corporate communications as propaganda (Orwellian double-speak). For instance, when the core medical plan was phased-out in favor of a high deductible plan, it was promoted to employees as something good that would empower us to be able to make better choices as consumers of medical services. Never mind how opaque the market actually is and that the employee will be paying more, we were told that the change was good for us.
