Pros

Almost no bureaucracy in R&D!!! Job allows for creativity and innovation yet is also challenging. There's always an opportunity to learn here! The benefits and time off are unreal, the Santa Rosa campus is beautiful, and everyone is nice and helpful. The work life balance is amazing too -- you almost never have to work overtime and no one is breathing down your back to know when you come in and leave each day.

Cons

The products we make aren't that interesting unless you're a die-hard electrical engineer; and you'll struggle to explain to your friends what the company does. Santa Rosa is also a sleepy bedroom community and is not the best place for recent grads to move to and try to make friends. Keysight is trying to create a better sense of community among the younger engineers, but it's not quite there yet.

Pros

There are so many reasons why Keysight is a great place to work. I am incredible proud to work for a company that makes me feel valued as a Woman Engineer. Keysight is a member of the SWE CPC. In essence, the company culture is one that places a premium on technical innovation and enduring quality as well as work life balance. Tracing back to the HP roots, the company culture is one that fosters cutting edge engineering and quality in manufacturing. The company places a very high value on employee satisfaction and on corporate citizenship. Keysight has many programs to encourage work life balance and community partnerships. These programs help ensure that workers feel valued no matter what their background. Combine that with a chance to work on leading edge technology, creating one of a kind instrumentation which enables technological advancements across industries is absolutely amazing!

Cons

Biggest down side is the lack of career advancement opportunities. This is a side affect of a very high retention rate among employees.

Pros

--Opportunities for working on on cutting-edge technology given you can get up to date with the professionals. -Most knowledgeable, patient, highly-skilled, and energetic engineers in the RF/Microwave industry. -They often take you out to lunch or dinner at amazing restaurants! -Everyone is very eager to help each other. There is no competition, and more collective effort. -There is a great flexible time off option. -Not very rushed or demanding managers or mentors. They provide ample time for you to learn. -Everyone provides their time for you. -Lunch Ping pong fanatics. -Managers do not micromanage. They adopt a supportive role and make you feel like the manager on all scales, until it comes to monetary decisions. -Seldom, employees offered classes on their product designs, and basic EE concepts. -Encourages and financially supports purchasing books to learn, and Masters education. -Highly structured internship program that incorporates presentations, CEO meetings, mixers, etc... -Up-to-date on latest C#/Matlab/SPICE simulation technologies, and development methodologies.

Cons

-Very narrow project/work depending on the department you are in. Most work are not translatable to other companies for Software Engineers. -Very stingy with money and investments into newer technology such that it feels the company is squeezing itself to just barely survive. -Not a lot of innovation due to lack of investments in some departments. -Payscale varies based on department and job position. Extremely low entry-level pay in some departments. -Felt more like I was fixing bugs, running simulations, and working around old systems rather than doing something on the cutting-edge sometimes. -Sometimes, co-workers are very unhappy due to company politics (stepped-over, clean desk enforcements, etc...), or cost-cuts. -Indirectly expect high performance from new hires, and subtly monitor them.
