We're sorry the experience felt that way overall — and we appreciate you highlighting what did work, like the people and compensation. Leadership challenges and being stretched thin are real issues. We're actively working to improve how we operate as a team, and feedback like this helps us see where we need to do better.

Pros

- Comprehensive training (self-paced and classroom) - Pay/benefits were slightly above average - Amazing knowledge base/resource center

Cons

- Toxic management, especially evident during “CERT” (or ramp up), who takes care of themselves while dismissing concerns - Gaslighting and redirecting of complaints about treatment of fellow training members - On the surface, very tech-forward and “accepting” but ultimately fast-paced and unforgiving (i.e. attendance/points policy)

Pros

Remote work, many great coworkers

Cons

Constantly increasing rates, making it harder to sell and increasing goals at the same time. The agents who are selling the most are typically offering extremely low coverage and really high deductibles because that was the only way to get a competitive price. I felt pressured to neglect my fiduciary duty and offer this type of coverage to meet my goals. Overhired, extremely slow for about 5 months but reassured over and over that the volume will increase soon. When they couldn't gaslight any more, they had to admit that Management's projections were wrong and many agents were the ones to pay the price with mass layoffs. Terrible upper management that messed up projections and lied about it.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. As a member-owned company, it’s crucial to us that we provide coverage that truly benefits our customers, and we never want agents to feel pressured to offer anything less than what's best. As a growth-stage company, we aim to align our team’s structure and resources with both our current needs and our future goals as we expand into new markets. While our goal is to always serve our customers and employees to the best of our ability, we recognize there’s always room for improvement. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you the best moving forward.

Pros

Good pay potential, good company.

Cons

Toxic management I am a little heart-broken about Kin as there was good pay potential and the company has an excellent niche market. When I was leading the team in sales. I quit because of a toxic, micro-manager (who only had experience in auto insurance, at GIECO, to make things worse)... In my case, I could have a customer with a good company and a good rate, and I would be reprimanded for not asking for the sale (almost verbatim to a script my supervisor created on her own). Even if we were 4x the rate with inferior coverage, I would be reprimanded for not asking for the sale since, "what if", the customer had bad coverage (in violation of my conscience and, encouraging agents to, potentially, violate one's legal fiduciary responsibility to the insured).... To make matters worse, when I expressed my concern, my manager replied with a touch of narcissism stating, "I think its just in your head". Secondly, during training, there was a supervising manager who had a way of instilling fear in the employee if something needed corrected. The training was a bit too long and, in some ways over-complicated, and I had to adjust starting my day at 6 AM PST. I ended up going back to Matic Insurance where I had good success and a much better and supportive vibe from management.
