Pros

Kindred is a good place to start a new career. The supervisors/charge nurses are very approachable for questions and learning. The supervisors/charge nurses are good at looking out for the welfare of their staff. They are always ready to teach and help out.

Cons

While the supervisors/charge nurses are wonderful, management is a different story. Concerns and needs by staffs are blatantly ignored. In fact, these concerns are met bythe usual response “well, you should feel lucky that you have a job. If you’re not happy with it, the door is wide open.” There is no confidentiality. If a staff member has done something wrong, the rest of the staffs will learn about the impending trouble and reperscussions first before the involved staff member. Threats of call-in jeopardy are always brought up even if an employee had only 2 call-ins for the last year and a half. Management are always making or changing new policies to suit their needs.

Pros

Great benefits package, opportunity to advance, tuition reimbursement program, many resources for employees. They have the employees fill out employee satisfaction surveys every year and they review them to see if they can improve on things. The corporate nurses are always seen in the buildings checking on things.

Cons

It is difficult to work in a for profit facility because it sometimes seems that it is all about money and not about taking good care of people, but the administrators are good about helping the facility succeed in both areas.

Pros

Thoroughly enjoyed the various tasks and having the variety from day to day. Enjoyed interacting with the residents as our facility was located within one of the local Skilled Nursing Facilities.

Cons

The particular management of that time and lack of support from management when issues were raised.
