Pros

The work you do can improve the lives of millions and they are your neighbors.

Cons

Projects go incredibly slow. Turf wars with City of Seattle or other municipalities is annoying. Stakeholder management is a challenge, and there are 8-15 stakeholders in every project.

Pros

Has great benefits - medical is 100% paid for employees Pay is fairly competitive for most positions

Cons

Advertises that they are equitable in their practices and policies but employees are not treated consistently, definitely favorites displayed in some employees and processes When applying to a position internally, King County process is to speak to your current manager, so if you’re trying to leave a bad manager, they can stop you from moving, which feels to be systemic that they claim they are removing out of their processes. If you are hired or placed at a step higher than step 6, and you are not in a represented position, you only get a step increase- a raise if you’re rated “outstanding “ even if you do and complete your work satisfactorily. I work 10-12 hour days and it is expected because I’m an “exempt” employee
