#1 on paper but last place in real life

Pros

Fun (former) company culture, relaxed dress code, free snacks, fun holiday party.

Cons

There is Scientology indoctrination no matter what the "No Religion and Politics" policy is or what they say when they reply to this review. Upper-level management is protected while lower employees are being laid off. The mass layoffs are happening in waves behind closed doors to avoid the WARN act and pad the pockets of the already wealthy employees, not to "cut costs". For a company that claims it cares about people, they really mean Scientologists who are upper-level managers. They are only #1 on paper. Is it money, connections, or some other influence they have with these lists, who is to say? But it is certainly not because of happy or satisfied employees as indicated in the many negative reviews posted recently. Avoid this company at all costs.

We are very disappointed to hear that you left KnowBe4 with such a negative impression after spending 3 years with us. We know there have been some changes lately as we've adapted to the fluctuations in the economy, but at the core, KnowBe4 is the same organization with the same core values. Two of those values are radical transparency and complete honesty. With those values in mind, we must address a few points of concern in your review. Foremost, KnowBe4 uses several local and global third-party vendors to survey employees anonymously. These surveys are the basis for our awards and are given to KnowBe4 because 95% of employees respond positively to the surveys, including statements such as “when you join the company, you are made to feel welcome,” “people here are treated fairly regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion,” and “I’m proud to tell others I work here,” among dozens of more statements. It would be impossible to influence the results of the surveys from these organizations, which evaluate thousands of companies around the globe. Finally, we have not had any company-wide layoffs. We have recently gone through a period of restructuring as part of our business optimization efforts, and unfortunately, some positions were impacted, including the team for a product KnowBe4 no longer offers. However, we have worked hard to ensure that any affected employees were well taken care of while they transition to new opportunities. We are now laser-focused on reaching our next big goal while making a fun and welcoming workplace for all Knowsters.

Pros

KB4 has some really great people working there. On the surface, they have a great culture and offer some pretty cool perks to their employees. There's a great view from the top floors of the offices.

Cons

Nepotism is visible at its finest. How well you will do at KB4 all depends on who you are and who you know, and this will be reflective in your pay equity. DEI efforts are very surface level and just there to go after awards, and the word "equity" isn't even used in conjunction with diversity. Teams are pressured to go for awards using false and inaccurate information to make the culture look better than it is. Pay inequity is off the chart, and is based on who you are and where you lean. The company preaches that it values extreme honest and radical transparency, but this is barely visible within the organization. Speaking out against what is wrong is not valued, and those who once worked alongside are the first to turn their backs. If you are different and of a diverse background, just forget about it.

We are disappointed to hear that you left KnowBe4 with a negative impression. As a long-time Knowster, you must know that KnowBe4 has numerous checks and balances in place to ensure that favoritism, nepotism, and discrimination of any type can not affect promotions, pay, or any other aspects of KnowBe4. We keep our recruiters deeply involved in the internal promotion process so that they can bring an unbiased, third-party opinion to the process, and our teams have set requirements for performance statistics that must be met prior to earning a promotion. We even have an entire position, the Director of Compensation, who ensures that KnowBe4 is paying fair, equitable, and competitive wages. Our Director of Global Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging and her team have spent the last few years implementing invaluable tools and resources to create a truly welcoming and inclusive work environment. It is because of these systems and our great culture that KnowBe4 has received consistently positive feedback on our cultural surveys - which are run by third-party organizations and impossible to tamper with. We are proud to have received the awards we have received, but for us, maintaining the positive culture behind those awards is what is really important.

Pros

Best in market product at best-in-market pricing. "Unlimited" PTO. Amazing training at on-boarding.

Cons

Micromanagment on micromanagement. 99% Cold-Calling. what little lead generation/distribution is not transparent. Managment doesn't listen, they dictate, always referencing policy and not common sense. Pushing to return to office in a Work-from-home world, simply because it suits managment (did a survey, didn't share results in a transparent display, and it appears they don't care, they're still bound and determined to pull staff back to offices). "Unlimited" PTO is actually limited - and you won't get it (or have it pulled back) if you miss your quota. And you can't take it during certain blackout dates (well, if you're not in sales, those limitations don't apply). PTO is in reality an earned benefit, not an entitled benefit as most companies provide (ie: weeks specified in writing at time of hire) They tell you right in training to forget what sales experience you have and do it their way. Even if it disenfranchises the customers, do it their way. Deal blows up? That's on you, not our process.

Hello, and thank you for your feedback. We have opened up many positions for permanent remote work and hybrid work since COVID has started. As for raises, all employees at KnowBe4 have received yearly raises in 3 of the last 4 years. Additionally, we love internal promotions and promote from within as often as we can, which usually comes with a pay raise. For our sales reps, the earnings potential is huge! Historically, over 60% of our SMB reps have made over $100,000 in a year; in fact, our top SMB rep made over $160,000 and our top enterprise rep made over $500,000. The base pay is where it is so that we can have one of the most lucrative commissions plans in the industry. That’s why an SMB sales rep can earn more than $25k in commissions in a single month of sales! Additionally, we have the monthly bonus plan after the first 90 days of employment, where each employee can earn between $0 and $2,000 per month based on company-wide sales. We started this in 2015. Since then, the lowest it has been is $7,500 per person in a year and the highest it has been is $17,800 per person in a year. This huge earnings potential is driven by the fact that KnowBe4 has mastered the process for selling security awareness training to IT professionals. Our processes have been tested time and time again, and have consistently shown amazing results. We also have in-house sales performance coaches to help all our sales reps continue to improve and not just meet quota, but shatter it! We truly understand that sales can be a high-pressure career field so we want to make sure that we are supporting our hard-working sales reps in every way possible, to make the job as seamless and stress-free as possible. As a current employee, we want to make sure that you are as happy as possible in your position. We suggest that you set up a time to speak with Employee Relations, your manager, your performance coach, the in-house career coach, or the in-house life coach to talk about how we can work together to make you a happy and engaged Knowster.
