- The technical “leadership” of the webdev group operates with unrestrained incompetence and absolute authority. All justifications for not following industry standards or any recognized software development process degenerate to responses like “this is how we do things at Lamps Plus”, “do it this way because I am the boss”, or “we aren’t a planning company”.
- Questioning uneducated decisions is seen as an insubordinate act in all cases because the company doesn’t know or care about how software should be developed. The people in charge have obviously never worked in a well structured software organization and only care about being right, even when they never are. Good developers don’t last long when they find out they don’t have the freedom to do the jobs they were hired to do.
- Management has no trust in anyone. This is a symptom of managements inability to understand the work they are asking the team to complete. Management hires and promotes people that can be controlled and manipulated and in most if not all cases the people management pick are not qualified for the jobs they are hired into.
- Management is also incapable of showing up to meetings on time. When they finally show up they are disinterested and spend the entire meetings on their phone, or derailing the discussion with unrelated topics that have nothing to do with work. The environment is by far the most professionally disrespectful organization I have ever been a part of.
- There are no real career prospects at Lamps Plus as advancement is controlled by people that are in constant fear of people doing well and exposing just how much management doesn’t know… about anything.
- The benefits may as well not exist. Health benefits are cheaper in most cases if you get it on your own and the 401K match is the worst I have seen at any company.
- Lamps Plus treats employees like criminals and requires salaried employees to clock in and out of the office.
