Good Benefits Overshadowed by Bias and Poor Management

Pros

The salary package and benefits are good, which is a positive aspect of working here. The office is conveniently located near an MRT station, making the commute relatively easy. Additionally, the dress code is casual, which provides some comfort in the workplace. Other than these, there are not many benefits to highlight.

Cons

Waited for growth and exposure to grow more with the company but ended up with empty promises from management. Skills and knowledge in the company is not good enough to gain for a long run. The workplace suffers from significant bias, favoring Korean members and selected employees in compensation, promotions, and job task allocations, which are often based on favoritism rather than merit. The KPI grading system is skewed, with higher grades awarded to favored or ingratiating employees rather than those who meet goals. The job grade system and salary increments also reflect this bias, with promotions and pay adjustments frequently benefiting a select few despite their actual performance. Additionally, feedback on career development and job tasks is frequently ignored, and the shared service center falls short in providing adequate support to subsidiaries, affecting overall operational efficiency. There is not much in terms of career development within the company. Management struggles to resolve issues effectively, particularly when dealing with problematic employees, often opting for the easier way out. Additionally, some employees exploit their seniority or titles, believing that whatever they say carries the most influence, which undermines morale and productivity.

As LG Chem continues to grow, many individuals are tasked to take on new projects to flex skills sets to learn new areas of business. These are opportunities you may not receive in a large, US based Fortune 500 company that is established. If you are looking for an organization that will challenge you to be better and work outside your comfort zone, check out our open positions: https://www.lgchem.com/career/index
