Pros

incentive program VAN team lab team transport team

Cons

manipulative management The minute management hears that you want to move hospitals or change floors you end up with a bogus write up to retain you. 1:5 or 1:6 on PCU that is essentially ICU over flow. having no equipment to care for your ICU level patient's that are stuck on your floor because ICU is full. Don't be surprised to be assigned all total care's. Management is okay with giving nurses five to six patient's and having no CNA coverage. Management will prioritize buying shower chairs for a floor where patient's require two or more people to turn a patient but there are no working thermometer's or datascopes. It doesn't make sense. Or enforcing that nightshift arrange home oxygen, home health, and have the attending come and sign scripts for controlled substances. They want that done in the middle of the night. Make it make sense. Also be sure to request PTO about six or more months in advance and even then you're lucky to get it.

Pros

Pretty good benefits compare to the competition. Able to switch department after completing 6 months of employment, Management depends per department. Ease of changing schedule if you're not able to work a certain day.

Cons

If you're 3 MINUTES past your shift time, you're tarde. However you can clock out 8 minutes before the end of your scheduled shift, and you get full pay. You can't be a mom; if your children get sick and you call out, it counts against you, then you get sick from your children, it counts against you. You get sick from a direct exposure from a co-worker, it counts against you. If you end up with 4 absences for the year, you're getting written up/fired. You have to be top notch. The absence/tardee policy is a complete joke for those who have children.
