Pros

A typical big company (meaning policies usually reflect the location & attitude of corporate headquarters, which is in northern Virginia), but until now they haven't been too heavy-handed.

Cons

Will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or weekly testing starting October 1, and there's rumor that there will be a similar requirement for booster shots. Ostensibly its because their customers require it, but no customer is currently requiring it (or at least Leidos hasn't identified any customer currently requiring it). There are also divisions of Leidos ("subsidiaries") who are exempt from the requirement even though they serve the same customers.

Pros

Do science, work your 8 hours and go home. If you are senior you might get to write your own grants. There's also a chance to move over to the organization you are contracting to.

Cons

I find the research pretty boring at the moment. I spend a lot of time collecting other people's data and editing other people's manuscripts. Health insurance is pretty bad.
